As a result of the continued public health restrictions, the Club decided to cancel all leagues/programs for the remainder of the 2020/2021 season.
All refunds have been completed. If you were supposed to receive one, but haven't yet, please contact your league rep.
Curl MB is running a 50/50 fundraiser for the individual clubs. If interested, please follow this link. And if you do, please remember to specify "Stonewall Curling Club" to direct a portion of the proceeds to. https://www.fundingchange.ca/curlmanitoba/XeVnkeKkPRTNUlyV
Thankfully the local (Stonewall/Teulon area) case numbers remain as low now as they were back in September when we were preparing to first open. That is good news for the community in any event, but the Board had hoped and had remained committed for the opportunity to put in the effort in order to resume curling and operate safely under similar guidelines as before. The ice was still ready, the bar was still stocked. A late Jan./early Feb. re-opening would have still allowed us to complete a half-season.
Unfortunately there had been no mention of sports, recreation or bars of any kind in the Province's plans to loosen restrictions, so the fact was, we were left with really no choice but to stop waiting any longer for the possibility of when/if that might happen.
Thank-you to the MB government, for providing us with some grant funding.
Thank-you to Curl MB, for advocating on our behalf and communicating any developments to us.
Thank-you to the Town of Stonewall, for allowing us to keep the facility intact while we waited.
Thank-you to our strong staff, for doing all the work asked of them in order for us to safely open and operate last Fall, plus continue to keep the ice ready to go while we waited.
Thank-you to our excellent sponsors, for continuing to help support us through it all.
Most importantly, thank-you to our wonderful members, for following all the rules and guidelines needed to start the season, as well as for your patience and understanding throughout the past difficult twelve months. We appreciate each and every one of you.
Stay safe and stay positive.
